The Washable Wool Mattress Protector is made from the same thick melton wool textile that encases the All Wool Mattress - pre-shrunk, with elastic on all four corners to fit snugly over your mattress or topper without shifting overnight. It creates a washable barrier between your body and the mattress beneath, absorbing and releasing moisture the way only wool can, without compromising the breathability of your sleep surface.

Wool absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture before it starts to feel damp which means it manages the perspiration and humidity that would otherwise saturate a mattress over time. Unlike synthetic protectors, which trap moisture or feel plasticky against the skin, this one is silent, breathable, and naturally temperature-neutral. It works with the wool beneath it rather than fighting it.

Made to order in Shepherd's Dream's Northern California workshop. Pre-shrunk before it ships, with an additional 2 inches of ease built in to each dimension to account for any further settling after washing.

How to use:

Care: 

Machine wash on a delicate or wool cycle in cool water.

Use a lanolin-rich wool wash - Eucalan is recommended - to restore the fiber's natural moisture-wicking properties after washing.

Do not use regular detergent, bleach, or fabric softener.

Lay flat or hang to air dry. Do not tumble dry.

Wash every 1-3 months depending on use, or as needed.
