Shepherd's Dream makes three comforter weights: summer, all seasons, and winter. The Summer Weight is the lightest - less fill than the All Seasons, less than half the fill of the Winter Weight - designed for bedroom environments at approximately 75 degrees and above, for warm climates where a heavier comforter would overheat, and for children and adults who run warm regardless of the season.

The fill is premium EcoWool batting, sourced from regional farms in California and Oregon. Even at this lighter weight, wool behaves differently from down or synthetic fill: it absorbs moisture from the body and releases it before it has a chance to accumulate, which keeps the sleep surface dry and the fill functional. Down traps moisture and goes clammy; synthetic fill does the same. Wool does the opposite. The Summer Weight is also tufted throughout so the fill stays evenly distributed and never bunches or shifts to one side.

Encased in organic cotton sateen, with corner loops for use with a duvet cover. Naturally flame resistant without chemical treatment. Made to order by hand in Northern California. Allow 2-3 weeks.

How to Use: 

Use inside an organic cotton duvet cover - the cover protects the comforter, makes laundering easy, and extends the life of the product significantly.

The corner loops attach to the duvet cover's interior ties to keep everything in place.

For rooms warmer than 75 degrees: use alone or with a lightweight organic cotton sheet.

For transitional seasons: layer with the Merino Wool Blanket for extra warmth on cooler nights.

Air in direct sunshine seasonally to naturally deodorize and restore the wool's loft.

Care: 

Use an organic cotton duvet cover and launder the cover regularly - this keeps the comforter clean and reduces the need to wash it directly.

Sun and air seasonally: place in direct sunshine for a few hours to naturally deodorize, bleach any staining, and revitalize the wool.

Spot clean only if needed with a natural wool wash and cold water. Allow to dry completely flat.

Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Store in a breathable cotton bag during off-seasons - avoid plastic storage.
