Details

Three inches of EcoWool batting, encased in organic cotton sateen. That is the whole thing - and for a lot of people, it is the single most significant upgrade their bed has ever had.

The Snuggle Mate is the next-to-body layer in Shepherd's Dream's sleep system - designed to sit on top of their All Wool Mattress or Cascade Latex Mattress and add the kind of softness that makes a firm, supportive surface genuinely comfortable. But it works just as well on any mattress. For people sleeping on a conventional mattress with synthetic foams, memory foam, or chemical-treated materials, adding the Snuggle Mate is an immediate step toward a cleaner, more breathable sleep surface without replacing the mattress underneath.

The EcoWool fill is raw, untreated batting sourced from regional farms in California and Oregon. It compresses 30-40% in the first six months of regular use - which is normal for wool - and then holds its shape and comfort for years. Wool is naturally thermoregulating, hypoallergenic, dust-mite resistant, and flame resistant without chemical treatment. The organic cotton sateen encasement is smooth, breathable, and durable.

Backed by Shepherd's Dream's 10-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Made to order by hand. Allow 2-3 weeks.

How to use:
Place directly on top of your mattress, beneath your fitted sheet and mattress protector.

As part of the Shepherd's Dream sleep system:
Layer 1 (bottom): Cascade Latex Base - on the frame slats
Layer 2: Premium All Wool Mattress or Cascade Latex Mattress
Layer 3: Snuggle Mate Wool Topper - this product
Layer 4: Washable Wool Mattress Protector - over the topper
Layer 5 (top): Fitted sheet

As a standalone upgrade: place over any mattress to add natural softness and the benefits of wool to an existing sleep setup.

Rotate and flip every time you change your sheets to encourage even compression.

Care
Sun and air is all this topper needs for regular maintenance.

Place in fresh sunshine for a few hours every few months to refresh the wool, release moisture, and naturally bleach any discoloration.

Spot clean only if needed - use a biodegradable wool-safe detergent or a solution of white vinegar and water. Dab gently and allow to air dry completely before returning to the bed.
Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Rotate and flip every time you change your sheets to distribute compression evenly.
Note: the topper will compress 30-40% in the first six months of regular use. This is normal - wool retains its comfort and resilience even after compression.

About the Maker

Shepherd's Dream has been handcrafting natural wool bedding in Northern California since 1984, long before 'non-toxic' became a marketing term. Every product is made to order in their Montague, California workshop, sourced from regional farms that care for
their land and their animals. Their work is a direct vote for the domestic wool industry - and for the idea that what you bring into your home should last a lifetime.
