The fully certified organic topper in the Shepherd's Dream range - and the one to choose when the certification matters as much as the comfort.

The Ashland Organic Wool Mattress Topper is built from 2 inches of certified organic wool batting, encased in certified organic cotton sateen, and certified in full by Oregon Tilth to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) requirements. That means the wool is traced from farm to finished product - the farming practices, the processing, the dyes, and the final textile all meet the standard. No EcoWool here. This is organic all the way through.

At 2 inches, it adds a meaningful layer of natural softness and thermoregulation to any mattress without dramatically changing the feel of what's underneath. It is lighter and more portable than the 3-inch Snuggle Mate - elastic on all four corners keeps it in place through the night - and it is a particularly good fit for conventional mattresses where the goal is to create a clean, chemical-free sleep surface without replacing the bed itself.

Wool is naturally thermoregulating, hypoallergenic, dust-mite resistant, and flame resistant without chemical treatment. The fill will compress 30-40% in the first six months of use - this is normal and does not affect long-term comfort. Made to order. Allow 2-3 weeks.

How to use
Slip the elastic corners over your mattress and smooth the topper flat before making the bed.
Place your fitted sheet and mattress protector on top of the topper.

Use over any conventional mattress to create a natural, chemical-free sleep surface.
Use as part of the Shepherd's Dream sleep system in place of or alongside the Snuggle Mate for a lighter organic layer.

Pull the topper down to the foot of the bed when you change your sheets to allow the centre to breathe and release moisture.
Air in sunshine once a season to deodorize, disinfect, and restore the wool's natural resilience.

Care
Sun and air is the primary care method - place the topper in direct sunshine for a few hours once a season to naturally deodorize, bleach, and revitalize the wool.
Pull the topper to the foot of the bed daily to let the centre breathe and release overnight moisture.

Spot clean only if needed with a damp cloth and mild wool-safe soap. Allow to air dry completely before returning to the bed.
Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Note: the topper will compress 30-40% in the first six months of regular use. This is normal for wool - it retains its comfort and resilience even after compression.

Shepherd's Dream has been handcrafting natural wool bedding in Northern California since 1984, long before 'non-toxic' became a marketing term. Every product is made to order in their Montague, California workshop, sourced from regional farms that care for
their land and their animals. Their work is a direct vote for the domestic wool industry - and for the idea that what you bring into your home should last a lifetime.
