Details

A hydrosol is the water that remains after steam distillation of a plant — in this case, rose petals. It is not rose extract mixed into water, and it is not synthetic rose fragrance diluted in a base. It is the actual byproduct of the distillation process, carrying the gentle, naturally occurring compounds of the rose in a form the skin recognizes immediately.

Rose hydrosol has been used as a toner and skin refresher for thousands of years across Middle Eastern, South Asian, and European beauty traditions. Its naturally occurring plant compounds — including flavonoids, terpenes, and gentle aromatic compounds — give it its soothing, skin-balancing properties. It hydrates, tones, and refreshes without stripping, and its gentle pH is compatible with the skin's own acid mantle.

Use it as the toning step between cleansing and moisturizing — sprayed onto damp skin, it creates the ideal hydrated base for tallow butter, facial oil, or serum to absorb into. Use it midday when skin feels dry or tight. Use it as a dewy reset whenever skin needs it. The scent is real rose — delicate, fresh, and entirely natural.

One ingredient. Pure steam-distilled rose petals. 100mL / 3.38oz.

How to Use

  • After cleansing: mist onto freshly cleansed skin as a toner before applying moisturizer, tallow butter, or facial oil.
  • Throughout the day: spray onto skin anytime it feels dry, tight, or in need of a refresh.
  • Before layering: apply to damp skin to help subsequent products absorb more effectively.

About the Maker

Honeybee Hippie was founded by Jill King, a mother of four based in Huntington Beach, California, who had a lifelong passion for holistic wellness and ancestral living long before she had any interest in skincare. When she began making her own tallow skincare for her family and fell in love with the results, a friend at a local sustainable refillery shop asked to carry it — and the brand grew from there. The name Honeybee Hippie came from Jill's own backyard beehive: a tribute to bees for their honey, beeswax, and their essential role in the ecosystem, and to the hippie ethos of nature's remedies and slow living. Every product is holistic, handmade, and small-batch — deeply considered and rooted in the belief that true healing comes from what the earth provides.

Why We Love It
