For those who want a natural, chemical-free mattress with the body-contouring feel that wool alone does not provide.

The Cascade Latex Mattress is built around a 6-inch core of 100% natural Dunlop latex - processed from the sap of Hevea brasiliensis rubber trees grown on FSC-certified plantations in Guatemala and processed domestically without synthetic additives. Latex is elastic by nature: it conforms to the shape of your body as you lie on it, distributing weight evenly and providing the kind of full-body support that people with joint or back pain often find transformative. It has the pressure-relieving qualities people associate with memory foam - without the petrochemicals, the off-gassing, or the heat retention.

The latex core is wrapped in a layer of premium EcoWool batting for breathability and temperature regulation, then encased in a quilted encasement made from organic cotton sateen and organic cotton canvas. The encasement is zippered for easy removal - air it out, sun it, and replace it - which extends the life of the mattress considerably. No synthetic materials anywhere in the construction.

This is a complete standalone mattress. It works beautifully on its own and can be enhanced with the Snuggle Mate Wool Topper for an additional layer of softness and wool's temperature-regulating properties. Made to order in Shepherd's Dream's Northern California workshop. Allow 2-3 weeks.

How to use
Place on a wood-slatted bed frame to allow airflow beneath the mattress. A solid platform base is not recommended - latex needs ventilation to perform and prevent moisture buildup.

Use alone as a complete natural mattress.
Add the Snuggle Mate Wool Topper on top for extra softness and the full benefits of wool.

The Cascade Latex Mattress is the alternative starting point to the All Wool Mattress for those who prefer give over firmness. Both can be enhanced with the same topper and protector system.

Rotate periodically to encourage even compression over time.

Care
The quilted encasement is zippered and removable for airing and spot cleaning.
Air the encasement in fresh sunshine periodically - a few hours every few months refreshes the wool batting inside.
Spot clean the encasement with a damp cloth and mild wool-safe soap if needed. Allow to dry completely before replacing.

The latex core itself requires no maintenance beyond ventilation.
Do not saturate the latex or place in direct prolonged sunlight, which can degrade natural latex over time.
A washable wool mattress protector is recommended over the encasement to protect from body moisture.

Shepherd's Dream has been handcrafting natural wool bedding in Northern California since 1984, long before 'non-toxic' became a marketing term. Every product is made to order in their Montague, California workshop, sourced from regional farms that care for
their land and their animals. Their work is a direct vote for the domestic wool industry - and for the idea that what you bring into your home should last a lifetime.
