Down comforters are warm, light, and familiar. They are also notoriously bad at managing moisture - when you sweat, the moisture gets trapped against your skin, the down clumps and loses its loft, and you end up alternating between too hot and too cold through the night. Wool does the opposite.
The Ashland Organic Wool Comforter is filled with several pounds of GOTS certified organic wool batting, sourced from certified farms in New Zealand and encased in organic cotton. The wool is machine tufted throughout to hold the fill evenly in place and prevent cold spots. It is the most comprehensively certified comforter in the Shepherd's Dream range - GOTS certification covers the full chain from farm to finished product, which means the wool farming practices, the processing, the encasement, and the construction all meet the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Wool naturally absorbs and releases moisture without feeling damp - it wicks perspiration away from the skin before it has a chance to accumulate, which keeps the sleep surface dry and the fill effective. It is also thermoregulating in both directions: it traps warmth when you are cold and releases heat when you are warm, which is why it works across all seasons and in bedroom environments from 50 to 75 degrees without needing to be swapped out. Lighter than a winter duvet, warmer than a summer blanket.
Naturally flame resistant without chemical treatment. No off-gassing. Made to order. Allow 2-3 weeks.

How to use
Use alone or inside an untreated organic cotton duvet cover.
A duvet cover protects the comforter, makes laundering easier, and extends the life of the product significantly - it is strongly recommended for daily use.
Suitable for all seasons in bedroom environments between 50 and 75 degrees.
For rooms cooler than 50 degrees: layer the Merino Wool Blanket beneath for additional warmth.
Air in direct sunshine seasonally to naturally deodorize, bleach any discoloration, and restore the wool's loft and resilience.
Care
Use an organic cotton duvet cover and launder the cover regularly - this keeps the comforter itself clean and significantly reduces the need to wash the comforter directly.
Sun and air seasonally: place in direct sunshine for a few hours to naturally deodorize, bleach out any staining, and revitalize the wool fill. This is the primary care method.
Spot clean only if needed: use a natural wool wash such as Eucalan and cold water. Dab gently - do not rub or wring. Allow to air dry completely flat.
Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
Store in a breathable cotton bag when not in use - avoid plastic, which traps moisture.
