Details

The Premium All Wool Mattress is built from ten layers of EcoWool batting, hand-tufted and encased in a 100% wool textile. No springs, no foam, no synthetic materials of any kind. Just wool - stacked, compressed, and finished by hand in Shepherd's Dream's Northern California workshop, using fiber sourced from regional farms in California and Oregon.

Wool is a firm sleep surface. That's the point. It holds your spine in its natural alignment rather than letting it sink and curve overnight. For people who wake with back pain on a conventional mattress, the shift to wool is often the thing that finally fixes it. Wool is also naturally thermoregulating - it warms when you're cold and wicks moisture when you're warm, keeping the sleep surface dry and comfortable year-round without any synthetic temperature technology.

This mattress is also non-toxic in a way most bedding isn't. Conventional mattresses are typically treated with chemical flame retardants. Wool doesn't need them - it's naturally fire resistant. No off-gassing, no synthetic fragrance, nothing you'd need to air out before sleeping on it.

It's built to last decades, not years. Every piece is made to order.

Benefits:

• Supports spinal alignment on a firm, resilient sleep surface - no sinking, no sagging

• Naturally thermoregulating - warm in winter, cool and dry in summer

• Hypoallergenic, dust-mite resistant, and mold and mildew resistant

• 100% non-toxic - naturally fire resistant without chemical flame retardants

• No off-gassing - safe to sleep on immediately

• Handmade to order in Northern California with regionally sourced EcoWool

• Built to last decades - heirloom quality, not disposable

• Pairs with the Cascade Latex Base and Snuggle Mate Wool Topper for a full natural sleep system

How to use:

Place on a wood-slatted bed frame to allow airflow beneath the mattress. A solid platform base is not recommended - wool needs ventilation to perform.

Use alone for a firm, supportive sleep surface.

Add the Snuggle Mate Wool Topper on top for a softer feel.

Add the Cascade Latex Base beneath for elasticity and body-contouring give.

Shepherd's Dream signature sleep system - most popular configuration:

Layer 1 (bottom): Cascade Latex Base - on the frame slats

Layer 2 (middle): Premium All Wool Mattress

Layer 3 (top): Snuggle Mate Wool Topper - next-to-body softness

Flip and rotate regularly to ensure even compression over time.

Use a wool moisture barrier or mattress protector to extend the life of the mattress.

Care:

Spot clean only. Do not machine wash or submerge.

Use a damp cloth and mild wool-safe soap for small stains. Allow to air dry completely before replacing bedding.

Air the mattress periodically by removing all bedding and allowing it to breathe - a few hours of fresh air every few months.

Flip and rotate every 3-6 months to distribute compression evenly.

A washable wool moisture barrier is strongly recommended. It protects the mattress from body moisture and spills, and can be laundered regularly. The mattress itself cannot be cleaned once saturated.

Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods.
