Q&A with Sarah Wright Olsen of bāeo

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and why you started bāeo?

A: My name is Sarah Wright Olsen. I’m a mother of 3: (Wyatt 10, Esme 7, Winter 3).  I’m originally from Kentucky and moved to Los Angeles back in 2004 while working on a TV show and have been in the entertainment industry ever since working in TV and movies.

Back when I was pregnant with my first child I started doing so much research on what I put on my body and in my body. I was curious how these things would affect my growing baby and the deeper I dove into this world, the more passionate I became about finding clean, organic products for myself and my little one. This is where the passion for bāeo was born. Together with my friends, we developed clean, organic, eco-friendly products that the whole family can enjoy.

Q: Do you have a consistent daily am and/or pm routine? What are they?

A: I get up in the morning and make coffee. Then I’ll do 20-30 mins of strength training with my husband and our youngest in our garage using the Peloton app. I go back inside and make breakfast (or my kids will make breakfast) and then shower with our bare bar, moisturize myself with our bare butter, and use my favorite skincare products for a clean, glowy look. My top products in my makeup bag are Ursa Major glow serum, Iris and Romeo Weekend skin, Ilia Mascara and bare tint, bare face and bare kiss from bāeo.

Q: How does the natural world support your modern life?

A: I just feel the closer I get to a simpler life, less is more, “back to nature” lifestyle, doing things that are healthy for my body inside and outside, the happier and healthier I feel. The more kids you have, the less time you have for things that you used to worry about or that you give your time to. I make time for the things in my life that matter, for the people that I care about, for the little moments that I can do something for myself everyday that feels nurturing. This feels like more of a natural approach to the crazy expectations of our modern world.

Q: Are there any particular foods or botanicals that align with your personal self-care practice?

A: I am very smell sensitive. I cannot handle perfumes. I love the smell of essential oils, of burning wood, of lavender and rosemary. Anything that feels calming and can help relax and bring into a place of calm. I love taking this saffron drink from The Fullest. It’s an incredible relaxing ritual to drink a hot beverage that you know is good for your body and makes you feel a sense of calm.
